Researched 3 major brands of trash compactors to replace my original unit which died after 45 years of operation. JennAir compactors were highly rated by customers, while one competitor (™
the price) typically failed several months after Warrantee period, or about timeframe to get parts.
I ordered unit through a local dealer on JennAir™™s recommended dealers list in ™January 2023™ after competitors unit died after 45 years.
Earliest delivery for new compactor was targeted at ™mid April™. Compactor did not arrive to dealer till after 3rd week in May. Or about 19 weeks after original order date. Almost cancelled order because of excessive lead time.
First week impressions of JennAir unit (model TC607x6):
Easy to understand instructions, but needed to relocate electrical outlet to 18™ above floor level in cabinet. Installer would not tackle electrical so as a very handy person, I ran new conduit and installed new outlet per code.
Originally was going to have a custom panel made with black acrylic panel to match nearby dishwasher. However with such a nice unit, I bit bullet and ordered the Noir Style stainless
steel door panel with handle. It arrived in only 2 days and looks outstanding.
Second week: opened Noir Door box™¦ (4 of 6 screws missing)!
Ran to hardware store, purchased new panel screws and installed. Looks so nice, I™™m changing out other appliances to modern stainless steel appearance.
Overall the JennAir compactor is a quality unit despite ordering delay and missing screws. It™™s quieter than old GE unit, compresses better™¦ especially with the added ™compact cycle™™ that pauses in the downward position thereby compressing trash to a much smaller size. How good is it? For me, I compacted 5 bags of regular trash I collected the first week of use, into only one compactor bag. Truly impressive. Other features I truly like: child safety ™key™ that can be removed to prevent unauthorized use or compacting items not intended for compaction; and charcoal filtration system to reduce odors.
Also purchasing a JennAir double oven for delivery in September. Will write another review when that gets installed, as well as another update one the JennAir compactor.
Overall, I™™m very impressed with compactor. Does what it should,

I love this trash compactor. I only empty once a week on trash day. Before having a trash compactor I had to empty my trash every 2-3 days. I also like the charcoal filter which reduces odors.

Powerful. Satisfied. I™™ve had a trash compactor which was Braun brand. It wore out and we replaced it with this Genaire and we are currently very satisfied with it.

The first unit that I received would not run, brand new right out of the box. It took 2 months to receive a replacement. The unit is shipped without a front panel or a handle. I ordered the stainless steel front panel and after 3 months was told that it was no longer available. Your business model needs revision and you customer service needs major upgrade.

I love the hands free component of this trash compactor. Great whenever you are prepping meals and need to toss something in the trash before moving on-you dont have to stop ehat you're doing, just tap the foot peddle. It quiet, quick and efficient. Love it!

The black door and handle always feels wobbly. I had the service folks check and fix it 3 times. Additionally, there is no easy way to know when it is compacting since the controls are on the inside. So if you try to open it and it is compacting it places even more stress on the already wobbly door. I was much happier with the Kitchen Aid compactor I had before. I got a new one because the Kitchen Aid had gotten very noisy but the Jenn is just as noisy and it is brand new.
