So much to Love and Hate...

the frame is a beautiful piece of engineering. it cleverly hangs flush on the wall and displays your pictures in beautiful color, like a giant picture frame, just as advertised. but the interface is terrible. surprising that a samsung would make such an amateur interface. the remote only integrates a limited number of sound bars. my 7 yr old logitech has better support. optical audio is constantly switching back to the tv. an ad taking up prime real estate next to your home button. you don't actually own your tv. the art mode ui is worse. they must've designed it in an engineering bubble. there are so many weird quirks and omissions, but i only get 800 characters. if their phones worked like this, they would be laughed out of the market place.

This cant do what it shows on its website. there are multiple pictures in overview page showing in "vertical" mode. 1. the frame holder/stand mount can only be installed landscape for the 50". i called on oct 31st, for several hours they kept me on hold, and the agent couldnt resolve the issue . attaching - 4 photos from the product website for 50" frame tv that shows the tv placed vertically and images in that style and my installation. how can samsung advertize these if the product is not capable of doing this function. cut/copy of website text. "vertical when you want to display beautiful portraits, simply rotate the frame to position vertically." this was meant to be a "posture frame" outside my theater displaying moving posters with "NOW PLAYING" kind of a usecase.

The TV itself is OK. Not great at off angle viewing and no where near the quality of the Q8FN I originally purchased 2 years prior. Main issue is the TV Upgrade Program. Do not buy this as a second TV for the program. You will get nothing in return as you much purchase a more expensive TV the second time. If your first TV was more expensive then you get nothing. BUYER BEWARE.

50" mounted above the mantle. the daylight in the room plus art mode is fantastic. 4k tv watching is awesome, streaming apps are great. improvements. allow cropping on the app/tv for full screen art. otherwise users need to crop photos externally to 3840x2160 then upload. the hdmi cec needs update for artmode to not turn of hdmi arc devices. this prevents us from having artmode on and still be able to listen to music on external speakers.

More than a Television

Love this tv! It's the first of its kind to turn any living area into a piece of art! Has great sound and looks amazing when watching or putting it in art mode. My only gripe is the voice capabilities on the remote do not support many apps like sling tv as well as supporting airtv through the sling app (over the air broadcast). The voice capabilities do not even support prime video when searching for a movie etc. For the price and company as big as Samsung this was a little bit of a let down making the voice control on the remote pointless, now that is. I'm hopeful though in the future we will get more voice search capabilities within different apps! Last issue is the art store I wish offered a free version or maybe aloud you to only pick 5 arts a month and then change it up rather then spending on a monthly subscription. Other then that, it's something more then a television when utilizing it in art or when watching a movie etc. The sound is very well too! Looks great over my fireplace. I would recommend this product, but also realize there's a few things they need to improve with their voice search software supporting different apps and finding a cheaper alternative for their art store. I do like this TV. The picture and sound are great and do like the appearance of the art. The frustrating thing is when I try to watch tv after a long period of sleep it says it cannot connect to the network. I have to restart the box. I have to do this every day which is a little ridiculous. Tried to look for an answer online but after doing the simple troubleshooting tips (it's right next to the router, recognizes network) it seems like this is just an issue with this line of TV's. Very frustrating

i was so excited to buy the frame tv for my kitchen. i bought direct from samsung (huge mistake). delivery was fast. i was so happy. i finally was able to mount the tv and when i took it out of the box i saw a hairline crack on the screen. still wasn't sure and we plugged the tv in and the whole screen was ruined. the tv was not dropped and stayed in the box until we were ready to hang it. i called samsung customer service immediately (the customer service lady was very nice) but they said they would not honor any warranty on this because it was physical damage. i explained that nothing happened to this tv. it's been in the box in the kitchen waiting to be hung. it upsets me that samsung won't stand behind their product.

To be brief, the product is excellent as a TV. The art mode is a great improvement compared to a black screen when not in use. These two aspects alone would make it stand out above any other TV. Here are some software issues that need improvement: 1. Disney+ app fails to install. (It did install fine in an older samsung TV, so it is likely a problem with just the Frame TV) 2. The art mode is nice during the day, but at night, it is too bright. It would be nice for the user to customize the degree of ambient/auto-brightness in art mode. 3. It sometimes doesn't wake up from auto-sleep in art mode.

We have a small house and really wanted to take advantage of all the wall space. The Frame TV has allowed us a versatile use for our living space and we couldn't be happier. The TV mounts easily and fools everyone in Art mode as it displays beautiful art work and photography. A major benefit is the one connect box and the smart TV features allowing for only one remote, keeping all the clutter down to a minimum.

Beautiful compromise TV and Art

My wife wanted the hang art over the fireplace, I wanted to have a decent sized TV in the living room over the fireplace, so this was a really good compromise for us. We have used the art store some and those are definitely beautiful pictures, but I am also and aspiring photographers, so it has been a really good opportunity for me to try out having some of my pictures big on the wall. In order to make the best of using your own pictures, it really helps to size them exactly at 4k resolution, which is a minor inconvenience, but if you are using photo editing software, it's really no big deal to do that sizing. As far as being used as a TV, the picture is great, as well. I've largely been using it as a monitor with an AppleTV 4K, so I can't really speak to the functionality of the applications or some of the concerns that I've seen around storage space on the TV. Due to the nature of how the OneConnect box works and the fact that I already had HDMI, etc, running to the spot above my fireplace, I installed a box behind the TV to store the OneConnect box, which was a bit of an inconvenience, but helps make for a really polished look. I was slightly concerned about the heat it would generate behind the TV, but I put a Bluetooth temperature gauge with the box behind the TV and have had no problems so far. Overall, very happy with this TV in the month or so that I've been using it.

I was anxious about buying such an expensive tv, and nervous that what I was ordering wouldn't meet out needs (design wise). Needless to say, this tv far exceeded our expectations. The frame looks great on our wall, we were able to find art and matting that fit our interior. The sound quality is really good. Our friends have all commented on our "Art" and when we tell them its a tv they are surprised.

A few months ago I was visiting a fine home and saw what looked to be a painting on the wall. Someone informed me that what I was looking at was not an actual painting, but a TV screen called "The Frame". The color and look was fantastic, and I was intrigued. So I purchased one thinking that it could be installed in our dining room in a spot that was previously occupied by a framed piece of art roughly the same size as this TV. The thinking was that it could serve as a functional piece of art as well as being able to be customized for various dinner parties and events in this room. After installing it and using it for a few weeks I think that it really isn't right for me. It's really a TV set that has the option of being used as an "art frame". If you turn it on it goes straight to the TV and then you have to menu down to the art section and then menu through what you want... Don't get me wrong, it does indeed work, but it is a little complicated and seems to do a lot of things I don't need it to do. On top of that, it seems to forget my wireless network frequently so I need to reset the TV settings a little more often than I should. The subscription art service doesn't really have anything I like, so it isn't worth $50 a year to me. It's a good idea, but, again just not for me. I will probably throw it away... it was worth a shot, it might be exactly what you need though..

We really love the new Frame TV we purchased. Often the smaller tv's don't provide enough HDMIs or USBs. This television has 4 HDMIs and 2 USBs! This gives us all the flexibility for doing picture slides as well as hooking up all the devices we use with the television (cable, analog and dvd inputs). The remote box makes it easy to change or add connections. We put the box in a cupboard below the television, so there is no cables showing. It is very easy to access the box without having to move the television to do so like we have had to do on other televisions. Great innovation features for the consumer. We were also able to trade in 5 remotes for the single sleek and stylish remote. FABULOUS! The remote has voice recognition as well as manual functions. Again, for a smaller television, can be a hard to find feature. The remote is fairly intuitive, so that is a plus. It takes a little while until the voice recognition feature figures out the voices, but no big deal. Very happy with the television picture quality, and while we do not avail ourselves of the artwork feature, it is there is someone wants something other than a black blank screen on their wall. We have not tried to upload any of our pictures/artwork on the television, so cannot speak to that feature. Excellent price for all the features. This is one television that we plan on keeping for a very long time. Thank you Samsung for your innovation and attention to detail for the consumer!

So I knew that I had to have this TV once I saw it. I like the idea of having an Image on the screen when not in use, and I like the option to change frame colors. It's a simple thing, but it really works really well. The picture is fantastic, the Tizen OS is nice to work with and it's frame thick. If you intend on hanging a TV, get the Frame. The only thing I wish is that they had more frame color and options. I also wish they would do a raw wood option so you could stain it and/or paint it whatever color you wanted.

Huge upgrade from old Samsung TV

I had a 50" Samsung TV for about 6-7 years. I told myself I didn't need a smart TV to upgrade to, just the basics with a nice picture. Boy, was I wrong. My wife and I decided on Samsung's The Frame for it's aesthetics and the included no-gap flush mount, along with the QLED 4K picture. I was not expecting the amazing features included on this TV, including the great Ambient Mode and Art Mode. We wanted something that was not obtrusive in our living room and blend in with its surroundings, but could also be a great movie-watching experience. Yes, The Frame costs more than similar TVs that Samsung offers, but the price is justified in its looks, features, and the fantastic wall mount. This is my second Samsung TV and I feel no need to look at other brands.

The Frame looks great on the wall and I love just having a single unobtrusive wire descending the wall to the one connect box but there are a number of shortfalls in overall execution. 1) If you are installing this TV on a drywall wall as most will, expect to make another trip to the hardware store to buy toggle bolts. They are not included with the TV. They do include anchors for a masonry wall. 2) The TV can only be operated with the Samsung remote. A universal remote with you cable box won't work so you need to have both handy at all times. (To turn off the TV you have to press AND HOLD the off button which isn't possible on my Xfinity remote. The Samsung remote can't bring up the cable guide.) 3) The overall user interface is very cumbersome. Switching between HDMI inputs require 8 button presses. Preloaded Apps can't be deleted so lots of unneeded clutter. 4) Art mode for you personal photos is not straight forward. If you are using an Apple device only some of your folders will appear in the SmartThings app. No shared photo folders appear. I ended up having to use a USB stick to load my photos. Also memory for personal photos is really limited. I could only load around 40 pictures. You will also need to manually resize your photos to 16:9 so they appear properly.

The one connect box is great technology that allows all peripherals to the Frame to be accessed through one remote, and all of those devices can be accessed fairly quickly through the main screen on the Frame.

I am an 80-year-old widow who became a techie when my husband died. I've learned how to troubleshoot, boot, reboot and boot out any media platform that doesn't do its job. I'm also house proud and have never liked seeing a blank TV screen dominate any room, but especially a living room. I've been waiting for picture frame TVs to be invented for years so I'd feel comfortable having a TV mounted above my fireplace. I considered a mirror TV but decided the last thing I needed was another mirror - and it wouldn't be nearly as much fun as letting my guests choose their TV artwork when they visit. I love my new Samsung. It can be seen the minute you walk into my house so having the date and temperature, a classic painting or my favorite, those bouncing black balls that make that weird sound, help me greet visitors is terrific, and it makes me very cool, very hip. And, since I'm mostly at home and do sometimes miss going to the theater or museums as much as I once did, I feel that with my new Samsung Picture Frame TV I've created my own inviting performance space. Whether I'm watching news, a concert or a scary movie, I'm doing it in style. This was a very good decision.

Just bought the frame TV to put in my custom cabinet the 50 inch fits perfect the mounting and installation was so easy with the one wire I couldn't be more pleased with the look of the new frame TV now I don't have a TV to look at when it's off I have a beautiful picture this was the best idea Samsung came out with!

In every which way, I am more than delighted with my 50" Frame - and the beige frame I put around it. It's has to be the first ever TV that can actually present a prettier picture without any TV/streaming programming on display. Why anyone would choose to invest in any other TV right now is something I just don't understand.

Love the TV, but the software needs work

The TV itself is awesome. I love the picture frame idea and it works fantastically. I also like ambient mode, although I wish there were more choices. The TV is bright and colorful & it just has a beautiful picture. I bought the white frame for it which is awesome as it looks more like an actual picture frame, but it is very pricey for cheap plastic and a few magnets. The use of the one connect box so as to have one small see-through wire going from the television to the box is a brilliant idea. I just covered the wire with a picture since I could not put the wire inside the wall. Overall, I could not be more pleased with the TV itself. And I love the easy to mount holder for the TV which allows you to mount the television flush to the wall. I wish the software were better. I don't use SmartThings so would rather have software that is used exclusively for this television. The one feature that I can't believe was not included in the art mode of the software is a search function. There are hundreds if not thousands of pictures that can be used as part of the art feature, but no way of searching for a subject or an artist by name such as angel, abstract, beach scene, etc. This is a really stupid oversight. There is a five dollar a month subscription for this service but that is reasonable enough and useful enough for me to purchase. At times my phone would not connect to the television so that I can adjust the picture on the TV but as as of late that has not been a problem. Overall I love this television although you pay a lot extra for the art mode. Worth it to me, but perhaps not to others. I like having my television look like a piece of art when it is not in use as a television.

technical issues and failed art mode

i have wanted one for years, but it was not worth the buy. the biggest sell for me was art mode, but the tv has a constant underglow (especially art with creams/whites/pale colors) that makes it not believable. adjusting the brightness makes everything dark without fixing the contrast or details of the art so it looks worse. uploading your own art is problematic and purchasing art is pricey. i have only had the tv for a month & it already has technical problems including an issue of getting 'stuck' in apps (particularly netflix & prime which have their own buttons on the remote). you are able to move within those apps with the remote, but the remote will stop responding to the home screen button or art mode button. you have to unplug the tv & restart it for the remote to respond again.

there's a really fundamental, fatal flaw with this tv if you want to mount it on a wall - and they don't show it in any of the pictures: the "connect" box. it's a large, unattractive, cable tv box looking box that is larger than a direct tv "genie" box that is the brains of this tv. without it, it doesn't function. this box is shown nowhere in the advertisements - so it was a surprise when my av guy explained it to me. and i paid a premium for this tv compared to other 4k hd smart tvs. what a design train wreck.

Purchased for our living room. Great fit. Picture is great. Like the one box so cords can be hidden. Even has samsung tv which Is ok. You can purchase various frames or bevels to customize your tv frame. They are expensive but can add some things to the tv. The reason we purchased this tv was because we wanted something that was more than just a tv. The art mode or ambient mode is nice. You obviously tell it is not a painting but nice feature for a tv.

I really like the concept and execution of having a television that is also a piece of art. The art work, when displayed, does a nice job of changing a big, black rectangle into an interesting visual image. It blends well into the wall where it is surrounded by other framed artwork. I have had visitors comment that they didn't realize that it wasn't a framed piece of art.

Truly love the look of this TV once installed over our living room mantle. The look is very sleek and very modern, a beautiful TV to say the least. There are a few glitches to the TV itself. Hard To really explain the glitches I've seen. One is the selected image for the frame changes on its own. Also at times the image will not appear at all. There have been times where I have to disconnect the TV completely almost to reset it and that's when the glitches seem to go away . Almost similar to glitches on the computer when things just aren't working correctly and you have to reboot it. I've had to do this three or four times since I've purchased and installed the TV which has only been a few weeks. I Purchased two one for each of the living rooms but have only installed one. I have yet to install the other and noticed if it also has similar glitches.

After hearing everyone rave about the Frame, we decided we needed one for our bedroom remodel. We love the idea of having art displayed in our personal retreat instead of a black box on the wall. It is sleek, sophisticated in its appearance and this is when it is off! While on, the graphics, color and overall picture quality is the best out of all the tv's we have in our house (which are all Samsung). The 2020 Frame was worth every penny. It also came in handy with the free channels while we were waiting for our cable to be installed. So many choices and options from news, sports to music and the built in apps! Incredible, Apple TV, NETFLIX, all ready to go. We are seriously considering buying another for our main living area because we are so impressed.

Really like this TV. Took a little work to get it up completely the very first time. Had an internet issue which caused the 1st install to not be smooth. but after fixing the internet connection, it was a breeze. I am using it with both built in apps for streaming and a ROKU for unsupported apps. Picture is better when using built-in apps. Have only used one piece of art since the initial install, but are now looking into other choices. Everything is working better than expected. Only issue was when it got really hot outside, had to reset the TV to get it to act normal. (Kept dropping stream.)

It was less than a month old and it had two lines on the background of the screen you could see you mostly when it was blue or light gray. This is a very expensive TV to have this problems. Hope Samsung fixes the problems that it brings, in the beginning the TV work very well look really well but after a month it seems ridiculous to be having this problem.

Picture is great. Not so good: Screen mirror with Apple products is spotty, the picture is often behind in timing from the audio so voice is out of sync, about every three weeks need to hard restart because the controller freezes up, internet browser is completely outdated and not supported on many websites.

i bought this tv first week of july, it was delivered without any problem. the 1st week i had it, i don't have any issue. the 2nd week the hdmi ports stopped working, so i called the company where i purchased it and they sent somebody to do the service, the first time he came, he said it's the one connect box . so he came the second time with the new one connect box and still the hdmi ports are not working. so the company decided to give me a new tv and i got on aug. 20 . the 2nd tv has more problems than the first one, the motion detector for the art mode is not working even though i reset the tv and the hdmi ports are also not working. i called samsung to service this tv and they will come on september to service it. i like the tv but with all the issues i regret purchasing this tv.
